The future of Pivotal


Many moons ago, I promised that there would be updates to Pivotal after the game jam in which I participated. There were promises of new levels and changes to different systems in the game. What I didn’t realize back then is that life was waiting to punch me in the face right after I announced those updates, and with the advent of college, work, and the like pushing me to my limits, I haven’t been able to sit down and work on Pivotal. Thus, the update that is being announced now rather than a while back, like I should have. I apologize for anyone who was waiting for an update.

Here’s the good news - a new patch for the web version is coming out soon that aims to fix a few problems with the game, namely the menus and some bugs that needed to be ironed out. I also threw in a few new levels so that there’s more content to enjoy. This update should be out by Friday. However, this will be the only update for this version of Pivotal. As you might have been able to guess by the title of this post and the title of the game, this version is now being retired as the jam edition. In its place, I have opted to refactor the whole codebase and restart the game from scratch - I do enjoy the core fundamentals of Pivotal, but it needs quite a lot of work before I feel like it’s ready to be shown to the world again. I haven’t gotten too much work done on this new version yet, but it will be expanded from the current jam-based version. I look forward to sharing it with everyone.
